We Are Southern Stone
Hello, we are Isabel, Chloe, and McKenzie (and Emily is currently away). Our business is Southern Stone and this year we will be making custom pottery pieces.
Marlborough’s top Wineries and cellar doors lack authentic, locally crafted products. Many wineries emphasise craftsmanship, tradition and originality to enhance the culture of the customer experience. Our group provides one-of-a-kind authentic homeware.
In a world dominated by mass-produced plastic and disposable goods, we offer sustainable, durable alternatives that promote eco-conscious living. Our pottery serves as a plastic-free solution for homeware and decor, reducing waste and encouraging a shift toward mindful consumption.
By blending tradition and Marlborough's natural culture and environment with modern sustainability, we offer pottery that is both timeless and transformative, making a lasting impact on homes and communities.
Our Solution
Through Southern Stone, we want to produce handmade quality pottery pieces that wineries and cellar doors want to purchase for serving food. Our team consists of four MGC students. Isabel Gaines, Chloe Kyle, McKenzie Jessop and Emily Kühn.
Additionally, we are part of the Young Enterprise Scheme, which allows us to experience running a real business. Participants from companies under YES create and market their products or services and learn about business management, teamwork, finance and entrepreneurship. The program aims to equip students with valuable life skills, enhance their understanding of the business world and foster creativity and innovation.
